About Me, In Case You Care

I love the internet and everything to do with it, including surfing for free finds, free info, and free friends – not that I’d buy a friend. I spend the day here, trying to learn, trying to make money so I can stay home with my two fabulous (usually, anyway) kids. I left a secure, well-paying, excellent benefits job so I could spend more time with them. They are 12 and 15, both girls who are smart and athletic. So far they still like me, so I consider myself a success! Because if the only thing I accomplish in life is to raise happy and productive, good and decent children I will feel like I made a contribution.

They both play sports; it’s softball season, and they play “select” or “travel” softball. They also play soccer and volleyball. I spend a lot of time taxiing them to practices and games. One of my very favorite things to do is watch them play. We are full swing into softball season and one weekend so far we sat in 20 degree weather and one weekend we were very lucky to have sun and temperatures in the seventies. We live in a suburb of Seattle so you never know what type of weather you will get, and you have to be ready to go with the flow.

Other things about me…I love animals of all kinds. We have a dog, a Newfoundland/Lab mix who is a sweetie. I love taking her for walks. We adopted her about 10 months ago when she was 2 and a half. I don’t know why anyone would have given her up, but I’m glad they did. It’s fun exploring with her. We have visited lots of parks I never knew existed. I take her off her leash and she wanders around, never going too far from me. She’s become a mama’s girl because I’m home all day, and I give her the majority of her care. I’m the one that makes sure she gets plenty of exercise. At 68 pounds, she is quite energetic, but also the perfect indoor dog as she just hangs out at home and is not hyper at all.

We also have a cat who I adopted when the girls were little. Her name is Nicki and like our dog Sydney, she put her paw through the cage when I walked by and said, “Pick me, pick me.”

Other things I love include, as mentioned, the internet, sun, sandy beaches and the boardwalk. I also love the site of freshly fallen snow glistening in the sun and a warm fire to come home to. Not to mention a hot toddy.

So they say you have to have a blog if you are going to do any kind of business on the internet and now I do. I’ve had several, but unfortunately, they were with Blogger and one day they all disappeared with no explanation what so ever, never to return. Very disheartening. I know that WordPress will not do that to me, right?!!

One of the main purposes of my blog is to get in touch with other moms who made the transition from working at a JOB to working at home. I am planning to compile an ebook about their experiences.
